ART EXHIBITION
DISPLAY IN MUNICIPAL HALL ENTERTAINMENT LAST EVENING. PEASANT CANTATA PRESENTED. The art and antique exhibition in the Masterton Municipal Hall continues ..to attract old and young. Those who have not yet seen the display should make a point of doing so before the exhibition closes tomorrow night. Moreover, the proceeds are to be donated to the local patriotic fund. The exhibition is open afternoon and evening. Yesterday pupils from the Convent and a section of Central School visited the exhibition and today further school parties inspected the display. Last evening a delightful entertainment—a Peasant Cantata—was presented under the direction of Mrs Miller Hope. An augmented League of Mothers’ choir, assisted by girls of Wairarapa College, who performed the folk dancing incidental to the cantata, were responsible for the presentation. It was a tuneful and colourful production, full of bright choruses and good solo work, the soloists being Mesdames Traynor, Snowsill, Moss, Speight and Burke. The College girls danced very prettily amid a bower of greenery and flowers. The girls wore floral effect peasant frocks and scarves. Miss F. Masters, L.R.S.M., was the accompaniste. The audience was most appreciative and fully enjoyed the entertainment. ONEACT COMEDY THIS EVENING’S ENTERTAINMENT “The Boy Comes Home,” a one-act comedy, will be presented at this evening’s session by members of the Little Theatre Society. The producer is Mr M. M. Simpson. This comedy should provide a pleasant interlude for those attending tonight’s session.
