SWIMMING
MASTERTON CLUB ANNUAL MEETING LAST NIGHT. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The president, Mr H. P. Glen, presided over the annual meeting of the Masterton Amateur Swimming and Life Saving Club held in Masterton last night. There was a good attendance of members and supporters. The annual report (which had been previously published in the “TimesAge”) was adopted. Mr Glen requested that any person having information concerning member s who were serving overseas communicate with the secretary, Mr R. E. Barnes, or Mr C. H. Spiers to enable an Honours Board to be compiled. A donation of 10s 6d was made to the funds of the St. John Ambulance Brigade. Subscriptions were fixed at the same rates as last year. Four new members were elected. Mr D. B. Curry was re-elected auditor and appreciative reference was made to his services. Members were asked to make a special effort to enrol new members, in particular lady members, during the ensuing season. Votes of 'thanks were passed to the Press, and to Mr C. Spiers for the use of his meeting room. The following office-bearers were elected for the ensuing year: —Patron, Mr H, E. Pither; president, Mr H. P. Glen; vice-presidents, Mrs E. Maguire, Messrs G. Masters, J. J. Barnes, C. H. Spiers, J. W. Colquhoun, J. Robertson, M.P., A. V. Faulknor, V. Heath, D. Andrews, and G. W. Morice; joint hon. secretaries and treasurers, Messrs R._ E. Barnes and F. Stains; club, captain, Mr J. Barnes; vice-captain, Mr T. Burns; club coach, Mr J. Barnes; handicappers, Messrs D. Pauling and M. Fly; delegate to Wellington Centre. Mrs N, Lie Berry; executive committee, Mesdames E. Major, G. Cork, Miss J. Ackman, Messrs D. Stewart. H. Braggins, C. -Roff', M. Finlayson, and T. Braggins.
