WOMEN’S DIVISION

RANGITUMAU BRANCH MONTHLY MEETING OF MEMBERS. COMPETITION WINNERS. ("Times-Age” Special.) _ Mrs James presided over a "good attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the Rangitumau branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers’ Union. Mrs Duckett undertook the duties of the secretary, Mrs Wrigley, who was unable to be present. Mrs James read a letter from the A.N.A. expressing thanks for the gift of jam. For next month it was decided to take either jam or eggs for the A.N.A. Mrs Duckett gave a demonstration on making a smocked apron. Members were asked to make either a smocked or plain apron and bring it to the February meeting. The competition for the best article made from a sugar sack was won by Mrs Macdonald. The blooms competition resulted as follows: One bloom, Miss Harvey 1, Mrs Duckett 2; three blooms, Mrs Duckett 1, Miss Cusack 2. Mesdames James and L. R. Wilton were the hostesses for the afternoon.

The competition for next month will be the heaviest half dozen hen’s eggs and each member is asked to take an oven holder.
