WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

RONGOKOKAKO MEETING. SIXTH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATED. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Rongokokako Women’s Institute, the sixth birthday was celebrated. Mrs J. P. Sigvertsen (president) presided over a large attendance. Visitors were present from Eketahuna, Nireaha, Hastwells and Kaiparoro. A skill competition was won by Mrs J. Payne, Mrs K. Faulkner, Mrs H. Simpson and Miss U. Payne. A mystery parcel was won by Miss P. Littler. A one-act play was presented by members of the Eketahuna Institute. The competitions for the month resulted as follows: —Child's cardigan: Mrs S. Smith, 1; Mrs M. Morriss, 2. Date loaf: Mrs H. McKay, 1; Mrs J. P. Sigvertsen, 2. Best flower: Mrs B. Morriss, 1; Miss D. Nagel, 2. The candles on the cake were lit by the oldest member (Mrs B. Morriss) and blown out by the youngest member, Miss U. Payne. The cake was cut by Mrs R. Littler. Clothing and knitting made by members is to be sent to refugees. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the judges of the competitions, Mrs R? Littler, and Mrs J. Payne for the making and icing of the cake. The hostesses were Mesdames F. Goggin and H. McKay.
