COUNTRY DISTRICTS BUSINESS AT COMMITTEE MEETING. PATRIOTIC ACTIVITIES. A meeting of the Country Districts Sub-Centre of the Red Cross Society was held yesterday at the Country Women’s Club. Thanks were extended to the following donors: Messrs Pope.- Barrow. York, W. James, Burling and J. M. Andrew, black fleeces; Kopuaranga and Opaki Women’s Institutes, and Tinui Women's Division, parcels. Two parcels of children’s garments were made and donated by the children from the Lansdowne School. It was stated that grey blankets (in' good condition) and eiderdowns for re-covering are needed for prisoners of war parcels. During the month members supplied the hamper for the Anzac Hospital at Featherston. The following articles have been forwarded to the hospital: 61 screen covers and one dozen pairs pyjamas. It was decided that the Macarthy Trust grant of £4 be spent on clothing for indigent families. At the next meeting the activities of the sub-centre during the past six months will be reviewed.
