WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION SEASON OPENED ON SATURDAY. PLAY STOPPED BY RAIN. The Wairarapa Cricket Association opened the season with its one day matches on Saturday afternoon but rain stopped play about 4.30 o'clock, there being “no decision” results in the senior games. IN OTHER CENTRES Wellington.—Just as teams had taken the field to resume the Wellington Cricket Association’s senior championship competition on Saturday afternoon, a tropical downpour set in from the south and so saturated wickets and cutfields that play was out of the question, and all but two games were called off. Hutt and Army met on the Hutt Recreation Ground. Army won the toss, and sent Hutt to the wickets. When rain put a stop to play after the game had been in progress for half an hour, Hutt had 38 runs on without loss. In the game between Johnsonville and Petone on the Petone Recreation Ground, Johnsonville had scored 36 for four wickets when rain called a halt. Auckland. —North Shore, 160, drew with Eden, 86 for nine. Parnell, 239 for six declared (M. Clark 65), beat Pon-sonby-Balmoral, 117, on the first innings. Grafton, 142 (G. SYDNEY, November 9. Les Fallowfield, Northern Suburbs opening batsman, broke Victor Trumper’s grade cricket record by scoring his fifth successive century on Saturday. His scores this season 109, 103, 109, 129 and 135.
