FEATHERSTON
NATIONAL SAVINGS PROGRESS OF CAMPAIGN. (“Times-Age” Special.) The acting-postmaster (Mr J. W. Holland) reports that the weekly quota of £155 allocated to- Featherston in connection with the National Savings Campaign for the week ended November 8, has been reached. The pennant is now flying at the masthead and will remain there till the end of the week. Lecture on Canteen Work. It is to be hoped that many women will take the opportunity of hearing Miss Hitchens’s lecture on canteen work in the primary school cooking room at 3.15 o’clock' on Thursday afternoon. Bowling Club. The Bowling Club’s green was opened for play on Saturday afternoon. An energetic working bee has greatly improved the approach to the green. Personal. ■ Mrs Parsons is spending a few days in 'Wellington. Vital Statistics. The vital statistics for October are:— Births, 7; marriages, 0; death, 1. Rain Record. Rain fell on 22 days in Featherston. The total fall was 7.34 inches, the heaviest being 2.10 inches on October 9. The rainfall in October, 1940, was 5.79 inches.
