MARTINBOROUGH
NEW SEASON OPENED BY TENNIS CLUB. (“Times-Age” Special.) The official opening of the season by the Martinborough Lawn Tennis Club took place on Saturday afternoon in pleasant weather. Miss M. C. Martin (president) welcomed members and wished them an enjoyable season. Mr J. Martin, chairman of the committee, reviewed the past season and the prospects for the coming year. • Afternoon tea was dispersed, and the remainder of the afternoon was spent in playing games. State Houses. The erection of three new Government houses has been commenced in Strasburg Street. When these have been completed, there will be eight State houses in Martinborough. Euchre Tourney. The Home and School Association held a successful euchre tournament on Friday evening when there was a good attendance. The winners were:— Ladies: Mrs Wilton, 1; Miss E. Howatt, 2. Men: Messrs E. Findlay, 1; J. Blissitt, 2.
