MINIATURE RIFLE SEASON OFFICIALLY CLOSED. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Featherston Miniature Rifle j Club has officially closed the season, s At a. social gathering the cups and r trophies won during the season were 1 presented by the president, Mr C. J. j Nix. who spoke of the high standard t of the shooting. t A vote of condolence was passed . with the relatives of two former secretaries, Messrs T. Browne and B. Watson, who have been killed in action. Mr Nix spoke in eulogistic terms of the work of the secretary, Mr J. A. ' Buck. The following were the winners of cups and trophies: ■ Nix Cup (A grade championship), E. O’Neale; club prizes, B. Williams and M. Hodder; Moriarty Cup (B grade championship), C. Foster; club prizes, L. Halpin and N. McNamara; Viles Cup, E. O’Neale; Austin Cup, M. Hodder; Witcombe and Caldwell Cup, E. O’Neale; Watson Cup, C: Foster; Yule Cup, C. Foster; R. Williams Cup (won outright), N. McNamara; trophies, No. 1, N. Castle 1, C. Foster 2,..N. McNamara,3;.No. 2, E.-O’Neale 1, A. Cook 2, N? McNamara 3; No. 3, G. Hultenberg 1, M. Hodder 2, B. Williams 3. Home Guard. The weekly parade under Commander Hayes’ was held on Tuesday evening. Instruction was given in semiphore signalling by Sergeant-In-structor Halpin, and a sand table lecture by Platoon Commander Carter. ( Euchre Party. At the euchre party held last night in aid of the Buchanan Home Christmas Cheer fund the card tournament resulted;- Mrs Rasmussen 1. Mesdames Skipage and Mellish equal 2. The consolation prizes went to Mesdames Sim and A. Edwards. The competitions resulted: Honey jar (donated by Mrs Q. Donald, Senr.), Mrs H. Blundell; cake, (donated by Mrs Lawson). Mrs M. Rasmussen; mystery envelope (donated byMrs E. Edwards), Mr Cameron. Cash donations were received from Miss Card, Mrs Wakely and Mrs Barton, and goods from Mesdames McKenna, Lowell, F. and E. O’Neale and N. C. C. Shepherd. Croquet Match. In a match between the Ha'unui and Masterton Croquet clubs the games resulted as follows; Doubles, Esma Card and Mrs Wakely beat Mrs Donnelly and McGregor 26/14; Miss Nix and Mrs Hankers lost to Mrs Polson and Bassett, .23/26. Singles: Esma Card beat Mrs Polson 26/19; Miss Nix lost to Mrs Bassett 17/26; Mrs Hankers lost to Airs Donnelly 16/26; Mrs Wakely lost to Mrs McGregor 17/26. _ Million Pound Appeal.
