HOME GUARD WEEKLY PARADE OF MEMBERS. . - (“Times-Age” Special.) The weekly parade of the Home Guard, held on Tuesday evennig, was fairly well attended, two hours being taken up with physical training, patrol instruction and rifle training. The weekly parade will not be held next Tuesday, and the n.c.o.’s will meet at 7.30 o’clock that night at the Mauricet ville East Hall for special training. Victory Fair. At the recent Victory Fair, held in the Mauriceville East Hall, the school children, under the guidance of Mrs C. M. Childs, assisted to make the gathering a most enjoyable one. . Red Cross Society. On Tuesday evening a meeting of the . Sub-Centre of the Red Cross Society was held in the Mauriceville East Hall, when several matters in connection with the operations of the society were dealt with. A Red Cross shop will be open each week, and the sale of useful articles, at reasonable prices should help to provide necessary comforts for the soldiers in the military hospital at Featherston. The sub-centre is grateful to the owner of the Mauriceville Stores' property for the use of the shop. By the sale of articles, the Society hopes to be in the position to acquire wool for the purpose of making garments for prisoners of war.
