GOLF CLUB SEASON BROUGHT TO CLOSE. (“Times-Age” Special.)' . The official closing of the 1941 golf season took place during the weekend there being a good attendance of members despite the unpleasant weather. The championship cups were not competed for this season owing to very bad weather when the matches should have been played, and to petrol restrictions compelling a few of the players who have to travel many miles to curtail their golf. The only cups played for were the Kummerstein Cup which was won by Mrs J. Bannister, and the Nimmo Cup won by. R. Weston. The president (Mr S. Gray) in presenting the prizes won during the season, congratulated the winners and regretted that the prize list was not as large as in former years. The following is a list of prize-win-ners:—Ladies, Kummerstein Cup, Mrs J. Bannister; nett aggregate (Mr and Mrs J. Bannisters’ trophy), Mrs B. F. Schofield; ladies’ Eclectic, Miss Schofield; closing day competition, Miss E. * Bannister; string competition, Miss Schofield. Men: Nimmo Cup, R. Weston; nett aggregate, S. Gray; 'men’s eclectic, W. Kummer and M. Paku all square; closing day competition, J. Bannister; string competition, S. Gray. In addition to the above the following won weekly prizes: Mrs Bannister, Miss E. Bannister (2), Mrs Schofield (2), Miss Schofield, W. Kummer, M. Paku, E. Nitz, A. McGregor and S. Gray. ‘ir Shearing at Standstill. TheVweather continues to be unsettled aiid during the weekend winter conditions prevailed. Early shearing is almost at a standstill and farmers report that there is very little growth in the pastures.
