TENNIS SEASON OPENED (“Times-Age” Special.) The opening of the season of the local tennis club was held during the weekend. Mrs S. George (the president) hit the first ball over the net ' and declared the tennis season open. No games were played owing to the wet and cold weather. Women’s War Service. The transport section of the Women’s Auxiliary War Service journey to Eketahuna on Thursday evening last to sit for their examinations, the results of which are eagerly awaited. Shearing. Shearing will begin this week in this district. Personal Items. 1 Constable S. Johnson has returned to Wellington after visiting relatives and friends in this district. Mrs W. Hood spent the weekend with Mi- and Mrs A. Edmonds. Messrs F. Johnson and G. Yasberg were weekend visitors to Wellington. Miss Cave spent the weekend with , her parents at Gladstone. Mr K. Price, of Wellington, was the guest of Mr and Mrs Huxford over the weekend.
