KEITH HOOPER FUND OFFICIAL STATEMENT. (“Times-Age” Special.) The hon. secretary, the Rev. W. F. Stent, reports as follows in connection with the position of the Keith Hooper Fund as at October 1, 1941:— Amount originally collected, £236 Is; interest P. 0.5.8. A/c., £44 19s; total, £2Bl. Total payments to date, £lO7 9s; credit balance, £173 Ils. It will be seen from the above statement that of the total payments of £lO7 9s, nearly a half has been met by interest, and that the capital fund has been reduced in nine years by only £63, an average of seven pounds per annum. Dance at Parkvale. The Parkvale Women’s Institute will hold a dance in the Parkvale Hall next Saturday night for the purpose of raising funds to provide wool for woollen comforts for soldiers. The object is a worthy one and the dance should be well patronised. Mrs E. Rose is secretary to the Institute. Gas Consumption. At last night’s meeting of the Carterton Borough Council the gas manager reported that during the past month the sale of gas totalled £2OO as compared 'with £196 for a similar period last year. Personal Items. Mrs A. W. Beale, of Dannevirke, is a visitor to Carterton and is the guest of Mrs Geo. Brown. Mr and Mrs B. Standen and family, of Levin, are staying with Mr and Mrs C. Sayer, Kent Street, Mr-H. T. Leete, who is in the Greytown Hospital, is making good progress toward recovery. Mr Harry Torrey, who has been first assistant at the Belvedere cheese factory for several years, has been appointed manager of a private factory in Palmerston North, and will take up his new duties on November 12. Mrs Neville Armstrong,’ who has been laid aside with illness, is making a satisfactory recovery. A vote of condolence was passed by the Carterton Borough Council last night with Councillor E. McKenzie in connection with the death of his wife. Members stood in silence for a few moments as a mark of respect to the memory of deceased. Mrs Goodin, of Kent Street, who has been absent in Te Kauwhata for some time past, has returned to Carterton. Mr Loftus, manager of the local [branch of the Bank of New South VWales, and Mrs Loftus, who have been away on holiday, have returned to Car ter ton. Mrs E. M. Gayfer, of Rhodes Street, Carterton, has received word from her son, Pte. B. H. Gayfer, that he has arrived at his destination fit and well.
