GERMAN SHIP

UNDER JAPANESE FLAG ARRIVAL AT SHANGHAI. SUPPLY VESSEL FOR RAIDERS IN SOUTH PACIFIC. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, Noon.) SHANGHAI, October 28. The former German merchantman Quito, manned by a German crew, but flying the Japanese merchant and military flags, has arrived from Yokohama. The ship is camouflaged and her name is painted out. Naval officials believe that the Quito was used as a supply ship for Southern Pacific raiders. They are of opinion that she was forced to call at Shanghai owing to the shortage of supplies in Japan. The Quito apparently is not gunned for raiding.
