STAKES WON BY LUCRATIVE.

The weather was dull and there was a good attendance at Flemington for the second day of the V.A.T.C. meeting. Lucrative gave a great cup trial in a fast finishing effort' to win the Caulfield Stakes. Excepting the three-year-old classics, this was his first weight-for-age win. Tranquil Star improved on his recent, form but was no match for the winner in the last bit. High Caste had every chance but weakened in the last furlong. Evergreen tired and Rivette gave a moderate performance. Results:—
Oby Hurdle Handicap, about 2m.: Naverino, 9.11 (F. Douglas) 1; Flying Comedian, 9.0 (S. McKee) 2; Winterset, 12.10 (L. Meenan) 3. Ten starters. Half a neck; two lengths. Coylton was fourth. Time, 3.39.?. Toolamba Nursery, about 4|f.: Bayard, 8.5 (H. Badger) 1; Cavort, 8.0 (J. Purtell) 2; Bobby Pearce, 8.5 (G. Newton) 3. Sixteen starters. One length and a half; neck. Souris was fourth. Time, 55|. Caulfield Stakes, about 9f.: Lucrative, .9.0 (M. McCarten) 1; Tranquil Star, 8.9 (F. Shean) 2; High Caste, 9.4 (E. Bartie) 3. Six started. Two lengths; length and a quarter.
