FEATHERSTON
SERVICE OF PRAYER LARGE ATTENDANCE YESTERDAY. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a large attendance at the United Citizens’ Wartime Service which was held in the Town Hall last evening. The Home Guard, Fire Brigade, Girl Guides and Boy Scouts were also present. The prayers were read by the Rev L. A. D. Haymon. 'Hie Rev. J. R. Higgs read the lessons. The Rev. R. S. Keenen, who was preacher, took for his text, “A New Consecration.” The singing was led by the combined choirs, the accompaniments being played by Miss E. Collins. Personal. The Misses Chisholm have returned from a week’s stay in Wellington, where they were the guests of Mrs Gordon. GOLF CLUB ECLECTIC COMPETITION. The following were the best cards handed in in the final round of the eclectic competition, played on the Gum Grove links on Saturday:—H. Bloxam, 35, 6, 29; A. McNamara, 43, 12, 31; G. Hoby, 40, 7|, 32’; W. Rowles, 35, U, 33i; H. McCarty, 42, 6’, 35£. On Saturday next, which will be the official closing day, a mixed foursome will be played.
The usual Labour week-end tournament will be held.
