FINAL WEEK
PARLIAMENTARY SESSION ANNOUNCEMENT EXPECTED. ON ELECTION QUESTION. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Comparatively little business remains on the order paper of the House of Representatives for this week, which is expected to be the final week of the present session. The major item is the Rehabilitation Bill, introduced last week, which will be taken when the House resumes at 7.30 o’clock tomorrow night. Ample time will be allowed for debate on the measure, and when it has been disposed of, the Statutes Amendment Bill will be discussed. A Finance Bill will appear during the week, and will probably be the last item of legislation to come before the House. The accumulated uncertainty of the last month on the question of whether a general election is to be held this year should be resolved during the week. The Prime Minister, Mi’ Fraser, is expected to make a statement from the floor of the House on the subject before the end of the session, and if it is decided to postpone the election, the necessary legislation should appear this week. There have been no fresh developments at the weekend, the Leader of the Opposition Mr Holland, being out of town.
