DESERTION CHARGE

BURNHAM SOLDIER SENTENCED. FINDING OF COURT-MARTIAL. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. A sentence of fourteen days’ detention was the penally imposed by a district court-martial on Private Arthur Devlin, Burhham mobilisation camp, who was charged with desertion. The officer commanding the district, Brigadier Mead, convening officer, has ordered.the suspension of but it will be reviewed within three months. Devlin was charged with desertion in that he absented himself without leave from 10 p.m. oh the night of embarkation of troops for overseas and remained absent until he returned to camp six days later.
