4 DONE IN R.A.F. RAID ON TRIPOLI FIRE SEEN HUNDRED MILES AWAY. OTHER TARGETS ATTACKED IN LIBYA & SICILY. LONDON, October I. One of the most effective raids yet carried out on Tripoli is reported in a R.A.F. Middle East communique. The raid, which took place on Monday night, caused widespread damage. A fire in a transport park could be seen 100 miles away. Another night raid is reported on Benghazi and on targets in Sicily. One enemy fighter was destroyed in the course of these operations and others damaged. From all these operations one British plane is missing.
