EKETAHUNA
SOLDIERS’ PARCELS LADIES PATRIOTIC EFFORT. ("Times-Age” Special.) In order to raise funds for providing soldiers’ parcels the Eketahuna Borough Ladies’ Patriotic Committee held a very successful ball in the Public Hall on Monday night. The function attracted a large number of patrons from Masterton, Pahiatua and Wood-' ville, while the surrounding districts were strongly represented. Those present spent an enjoyable time. The stage decorations included an cutline of the British Isles placed on a black screen, and the words “There will always be an England,” in black letters was placed across the screen. The scheme was most effective and was the work of Mrs V. G. Wimsett and Miss G. Green. The attractive floral decorations were carried out by Miss Betty Curry. Mr Ken Hicks's band supplied the music and Mr V. G. Wimsett acted as M.C. A home-made supper was served by members of the committee. The supper tables were decorated with spring blooms and made a pretty picture. Mrs Murray-Ansley was responsible for the display. e Much of the success of the ball was due to the untiring efforts of the energetic secretary, Mrs Wimsett, who was assisted by a capable ladies’ committee.
