WEEKEND COMPETITIONS MAHUNGA CLUB. LADIES’ STABLEFORD BOGEY. A Stableford bogey competition was played by the lady members of the Mahunga Club at the weekend, the winner being Miss O. Long, with 39 points. MEN’S GAMES. Members of the Mahunga Golf Club engaged in a medal round on Saturday, the best net scores being:—G. Young, 66; N. Hoar, S. Jenkins, 67; N. Bach, 68; F. Pool, V. E. Burridge, 70. During,the weekend the championships were advanced a further stage. K. McFarlane beating J. Thornton 5 and 4, and N. Hoar 3 and 2, and thus entering the final, in which he will play the winner of the match between H. Wehipeihana and G. B. Peterson. In the intermediate championship, C. Sutherland and N. O. Jones had a close match, the latter winning on the 19th. He will play B. Bodie in the final. MASTERTON MEDAL COMPETITION. The following are the best cards returned for a medal competition played by members of the Masterton Golf Club:— A grade: G. Brown 81-11-70; R. E. Eaker 76-6-70; C. Faulknor 78-6-72; G. M. Ross 81-8-73; N. G. Whiteman 87-14-73. B grade: G. V. Buick 87-18-69; I. McLachlan 96-24-72; J. C. Forsyth, 89-16-73. RIVERSIDE RESULTS OF WEEKEND PLAY. Owing to a favourable season for the growth of grass on the Riverside Golf Club’s links, members have probably never seen them in better condition than they are at present. A medal round was played on Saturday afternoon and the best cards handed in were: Men: F. Hallam 64, G. Murdock, W. Petty 67. T. U. Wellington and R. Callander 70. Ladies: Mrs Clarke 73, Mrs Naan 74, Mrs Gilliland 74, Mrs Palamontain 75. Rehandicaps are: G. Murdock 12/9, W. Petty 16/12, F. Hallam 14/11. During the weekend a friendly match was played between the lady members and an equal number of men. The ladies were keen to show their prowess but a little over-anxiety no doubt resulted in the men being winners by 10 games to 3 and two were squared. The championship matches were also completed. Very keen competition was displayed throughout. Results are: Men’s senior, A. Bell beat R. Bell 4/3; intermediate, R. Hatch beat C. H. Dixon 7/6; junior, A. Carstens beat L. Cross 4/3. Ladies: Senior, Miss R. Bradley beat Mrs M. Rawlins by sinking a long putt on the 18th; intermediate, Mrs Naan beat Miss K. Dixon 3/1; juniors, Mrs Cross beat Mrs Blatchford 7/6.
