GOLF CLUB SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP WON BY W. ROWLES. (“Times-Age” Special.) The following were the best cards returned in the final round of the Stableford competition held at Gum Grove links on Saturday: —H. .McCarty, 26, 11, 37; W. Rowles, 30, 2, 32; L. Benton, 19, 12, 31; H. Bloxam, 21, 9, 30; K. Allen 24, 5, 29'. The final of the senior championship between W. Rowles and G. O’Neale resulted in a win for W. Rowles. A Riot of Fun. The special challenge match between the Featherston ladies’ hockey' team and the Featherston Post and Telegraph staff took place on Saturday. The teams were very fortunate in having fine weather to play in. The Post Office team was gaily bedecked in all the colours of the rainbow, and created quite a sensation as they arrived on the field. The match ended in a draw, 3 goals each. The scorers for the ladies were Misses A. Johnson, A. Chaston and J. Hutana. The scorers for the Post Office were Trevor Jury and Charlie Houghton. The match was a riot of fun from beginning to end. The proceeds were in aid of the local Red Cross Society’s normal activities and it was very gratifying to the two teams to know that their effort had raised between £8 and £9. Mr A. T. (“Denny”) Carlyon won the sheep. The chocolates were won by Miss M. Pohl. The sheep was donated by Mr W. H. Davis. OBITUARY MR K. N. SAYWELL. Following an operation the death occurred in Featherston yesterday of Mr Kenneth Nelson Saywell, well known and highly respected farmer of Western Lake. The late Mr Saywell was at one time employed at Waiorongomai, later taking up farming on his own account. Mr Saywell was 53 years of age. The sympathy of a wide circle of friends will be extended to his wife and family. The deceasel was a mem-' ber of the Heart of Oak Lodge, joining that institution on February 2, 1910. The funeral, will take place tomorrow afternoon at the Featherston cemetery. Personal Items. Mr John Lawson left yesterday for Levin to enter the R.N.Z. Air Force camp. Miss Jean Houston, Rongotai, was home for the weekend. Mr Guy Thynne, of the Royal New Zealand Navy , who has recently returned from service overseas, is the guest of his’ cousin, Mr David Shepherd. <
Mrs Jenkins, Wellington, was the guest of her sister, Mrs Parsons.
Mrs Tullock was a weekend visitor to Hastings. Miss F. Jones, Northland, Wellington, spent'the weekend with her sister, Mrs A. P. Clapshaw.
