MAURICEVILLE
RED CROSS SOCIETY SUCCESSFUL APPEAL. (“Times-Age” Special.) The local branch of the Red Cross Society recently forwarded two large cases of articles for hospital use to the proper quarter. One large case of warm woollen clothing for refugees has been sent overseas. The appeal made in aid of Nurse Matthews has resulted in a most gratifying response. .Mrs Baine, on behalf of the Red Cross ’ Society, gratefully acknowledges donations amounting to £lO. Personal. Privates C. McArley and O. Nikolaisen spent weekend leave with their parents. Victory Fair. Sweets, ice cream and drinks will be obtainable at the Victory Fair to be conducted under the auspices of the Women's Division of the Farmers’ Union, arrangements for this still being in the hands of Mrs Nikolaisen and her committee of ladies who are working hard to make it a feature of the fair, the proceeds from which will be devoted to buying comforts for tfie Mercantile Marines and the men of the minesweepers. Home Guard. The weekly parades of the Home Guard will take place at the Mauriceville East and Mauriceville West halls this evening at 7.30 o’clock.
