GOLF CLUB LADIES’ CHAMPIONSHIPS, (“Times-Age” Special.) The weather conditions were unpleasant yesterday afternoon when the finals of the ladies’ championship were played, there being a cold southerly wind and heavy showers. The game for the. senior championship between Miss D. Nix and Mrs T. McPhee was full of interest, and at the end of the first nine holes Mrs McPhee was one up, but from rhe 10th on Miss Nix made no mistakes and her long putts gave her a win, 5/4. ■ • In the intermediate championship, Miss Joan Feast played excellent golf against Mrs C. Ingley and secured an early lead of two and kept in front to win 5/4. • In the semi-final games played on Saturday the results ’ were:—Senior: Miss Nix beat Mrs Gold, 2/1; Mrs McPhee beat Mrs Mead, 5/4. Intermediate: Miss J. Feast won by default; Mrs C. Ingley beat Mrs T. R. Ingley. Junior: Miss Wood beat Miss J. Bouzaid; Mrs Gregor boat Mrs Nicholson. The final of the second consolation competition held by the men’s club resulted in G. Brunton defeating T. G. R. Ingley, 2/1. Personal Items. Mr J. Wenden, of the Wigram Air Station, was a visitor to Greytown on Saturday. Mr Wenden was a member of the Wairarapa Aero Club prior to the war, and has passed his examination as a pilot in the N.Z. Air Force. Mr L. Strange, of Wellington, was a visitor to Greytown at the weekend. Mrs H. G. Carter and Miss Mary Carter are spending a few days in Wellington. Miss M. Eccles, of the Education Department, Wellington, visited Greytown at the weekend. COMBINED SERVICE LARGELY ATTENDED. About 150 people attended the combined service held in the Town Hall last evening. The Rev. L. A. D. Hayman presided, and Canon Sykes gave the address. Mr R. Anker presided at the organ. MINIATURE RIFLES WEEKLY COMPETITIONS. The Miniature Rifle Cluu and the Home Guard held their weekly competitions on Friday night. The following are the results: — A grade: Mr R. J. Tilson, 100; G. Gray, 99; Miss L. Gray, 99; H. Gray, 99; M. Hobson, 99; Mrs R. J. Tilson, 98; Miss G. Gray, 98; J. Yeomans, 97. Badge winner, Mr R. J. Tilson. B grade: R. Gray, 99; T. Gray, 99; W. Dennis, 98; S. Te Tau, 98; B. Eccles, 97; N.
