GREYTOWN
HOCKEY NOTES COMMENTS ON LADIES’ TEAM. (“Times-Age” Special.) The local ladies’ hockey team has every reason to be proud of their success generally over the season. Had they been able to retain their original eleven all through, they would have undoubtedly put up a splendid performance. Against that, however, they can feel pleased with the form displayed by the substitutes, who, though very young, have performed excellently, the best being Lorraine Sugrue, who, along with Gwen Reid on Saturday withstood many fast attacks and to their credit. The forward line has been the least upset, and all have played steady if not brilliant hockey. The half-backs still remain the best _ balanced trio in the competition. It is the disorganisation in the backs which has upset their run of wins, but for all that those who have been entrusted with the task have given of their best. One is pleased to be able to say that the season has been gone through with, the whole team acting most harmoniously, and they have learnt to stand up to knocks of the hardest types. They have, too, travelled more than any other team. When it is remembered' that in the last nine weeks the team has had one match on its home ground, and at one stage travelled on four successive occasions, every credit is due to those who have contributed so much to putting whatever interest there was into the association s competitions. It is safe to say that but for this team, there would have been but one team in the picture, and as was the case last year, their goal record shows their general team ability to advantage.
