TWELVE IN UNITED STATES PORTS FOR REPAIRS AND OTHER PURPOSES. PROOF'OF EFFECTIVE AID. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) WASHINGTON, September 20. The Navy Department announced that 12 British warships, including the battleship Warspite and the aircraftcarriers Formidable and Illustrious, are in United States ports for repairs, provisions, and other purposes. Following the publication of this list it was announced that full lists would be published in future in order to demonstrate the effectiveness of aid to Britain. It is noteworthy that President Roosevelt, in his Message to Congress, pointed to the repairing, pf the battleship Malaya and the aircraftcarrier Illustrious as outstanding examples of this naval assistance.
