MEETING ON SATURDAY CLAY BIRD CHAMPIONSHIP. T. SKIPAGE WINS A GRADE. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a fine day on Saturday for the Wairarapa Gun Club's ,A grade championship (30 birds). Messrs T. Skipage, D. S. McKenzie and C. E. Grey were all in good form, breaking 28 clays each from the 18 yards rise, and in the shoot-off Skipage proved the winner, breaking a possible 5 birds. A tricky wind prevailed, which, however, did not affect the shooting very much. The capable secretary, Mr C. M. Kiddie, with the assistance of an energetic committee, had the arrangements complete in every detail. Next week-end the “B” grade championship will be fired on the club’s grounds, Norfolk Road, Waingawa.

Saturday’s results were as follow: — Championship (30 birds, 18-yard rise).--T. Skipage, D. S. McKenzie and C. E. Grey tied with 28 breaks each. In the 5-bird shoot-off, T. Skipage broke the five, taking the club championship for 1941, while D. S. McKenzie was runner-up with 4 breaks. C. E. Grey was third, breaking 3 out of the final 5. Also competed: J. W. McKenzie, W. 11. Saunders and L. Rayner. 25 each; J. D. McKenzie, J. Udy and R. Williams, 24 each; J. Crawford, 20; H. J. Bannister and N. Prussing, 19 each. 10-bird Sweepstake.—J. Crawford and R. Williams, 10 each; D. S. McKenzie 9, C. E. Grey 8, T. Skipage and W, H. Saunders 7 each, J. Udy, L. Rayner and A. McKay, 6 each.

Gimcrack Sweepstake (5 birds).—W. 11. Saunders and J. W. McKenzie, f. each; D. S. McKenzie, R. Williams and H. J. Bannister, 4 each; F. E. Allen and L. Rayner, 3 each. Double Rise Sweepstake (5 pairs). — D. S. McKenzie'was the winner of this match, shooting exceptionally well to break the possible of 10 birds. W. H. Saunders also performed well to take second money with 8 breaks. R. Williams, J. W. McKenzie, H. J. Bannister and F. E. Allen each broke 6 birds.
