MAHUNGA CLUB.

WIN FOR CAPTAIN’S TEAM.

In the annual. Captain's v Secretary s teams match played by the members of the Mahunga Golf Club, the Captain’s team won by 11 games to 8, two games being halved. !NTER=CLUB MATCH MAHUNGA DEFEAT RIVERSIDE. DOMINION LIFE CUP CONTEST. During the weekend a match was played between the Mahunga and Riverside golf clubs. The A team played at Mahunga. The first eight players of the A team competed for the Dominion Life Cup and in this competition Mahunga was successful in winning all its matches. Detailed results are as follow, Mahunga players being mentioned first in every case: — Men’s singles: K. McFarlane beat A. Bell, J. Thornton beat R. Bell, N. Hoar beat J. Lulharn, M. Thornton beat McKenzie, H. Wehipeihana beat J. Wakelin, I. McFarlane beat Wearne, G. R. Ward beat Keisenberg, A. H. Ward beat Callender, B. McPherson beat Reid, W. W. Hendry beat Palamontain, F. Pool beat Murdoch, N. Bach beat Hearle, J. Morris beat Dwyer, S. Jenkins beat Hatch, C. A. Carrig beat Petty, B. V. Bodie lost to Shearer.

Men’s fourball: K. McFarlane and J. Thornton beat A. Bell and R. Bell; N. Hoar and M. Thornton beat Lulharn and McKenzie; H. Wehipeihana and I. McFarlane beat Wakelin and Wearne; G. R. Ward and A. H. Dixon and Mrs Gilliland; Mrs Madsen and Miss Diggins beat Mesdames Cross and Pool. Total, Mahunga 4 games, Riverside 1. Ladies' singles: Mrs Torr lost to Miss Bradley; Mrs Caldwell lost to Mrs Clarke; Mrs Hunn beat Miss K. Dixon; Miss Robinson lost to Mrs Palamontain; Miss Wyber lost to Mrs Brown; Miss Holtham beat Mrs Naan; Miss Johnson and Miss J. Dixon, all square; Mrs Hendry lost to Mrs Gilliland; Mrs Madsen lost to Mrs Cross; Miss Diggins lost to Mrs Pool. Total, Mahunga 2, Riverside 7. K. McFarlane distinguished himself by establishing a course record, scoring 67 off the stick in his morning round, his score including an “Albatross 2” at the bogey 5 second hole. Another course record was put up by J. Thornton and K. McFarlane, with a score of 62 in the fourball.

On behalf of the visitors, Mr Palamontain thanked the Mahunga Club for its hospitality. Mr J. J. McGregor, replying, extended condolences to Riverside, who had only won one game during the day. Very good golf had been played, however, by both teams. The success of the day’s golf was largely due to the excellent state of the fairways and particularly of the greens.

MASTERTON CLUB STABLEFORD COMPETITION. The Masterton Golf Club held a Stableford competition over the weekend. The following were the best cards: — A grade: C. Campbell Heard, 37; G. M. Ross. 37; E. B. Booth, 36; E. Henderson, 34; R. G. Mackie, 33. B grade; A. Caselberg, 29; W. N. Kummer, 29; H. J. Nitz, 25. RIVERSIDE FLAG COMPETITION RESULTS. I A flag competition was played on Saturday afternoon by members of the Riverside Golf Club. The winners were: Men, R. Bell; ladies, Mrs Clarke.
