DAFFODIL SHOW A BRIGHT DISPLAY. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual Spring Show of the Daffodil Society was held yesterday afternoon in the Masonic Hall, when, despite the unfavourable weather conditions of recent weeks, there was a splendid entry of exhibits. Not only were the entries numerous, but the quality of the exhibits surprisingly good. The champion bloom was exhibited by Mr W. H. Booth, of Carterton, and the cup for most points was won by Mr E. H. Feist, who is how serving with the forces overseas. Mrs D. C. Pryor won ffie trop'.iy in the decorative class, and Mrs Herrick that for the best bloom in the novice class. GARDEN CIRCLE MONTHLY MEETING. The "Garden Circle held its monthly meeting at Mrs J. A< Beveridge’s residence, when there was a fair attendance of members. Mrs A. Tyler presided. Hints, plants and seeds (kindly given by Mrs Tyler) were exchanged and distributed among those present. The winners of the competitions were: Best flower in garden, Mesdames H. Hardinge and Beveridge, equal, 1; Mrs Hardinge, 2; Mrs Skill, 3. Shrubs: Mrs Boyd 1. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE COMPETITION WINNERS. The Women’s Institute held its monthly meeting yesterday, Mrs Boyd presiding. Mrs Dagg, of Masterton. gave- a most interesting demonstration, using old felt hats for her purpose. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mrs Dagg, who was presented with a posy. The Shop Day held during the month realised £lO 11s, and the cake £3 7s 6d. The cake was won by C. McGahan. The competitions resulted as follows: Best flower, Mrs Boyd 1, Mrs Prussing 2. Gingerbread (donated to the Buchanan Home); Mrs Boyd 1, Mrs Hamilton 2.
HAPPINESS CLUB EUCHRE TOURNAMENT. A very enjoyable euchre tournament was held last night by the Happiness Club, there being a good attendance. The prizes were won as follow: — Ladies, Mrs L. Boyd 1, Miss L. McCardle 2; men, Mr W. Houghton. Personal. Mr G. Williamson, manager for the past six years of the Community Stores, will leave Martinborough on Saturday to take up a position in Wellington. During his residence in Martinborough Mr Williamson has taken a keen interest in bowling, and as secretary of the local club, has done much for the benefit of the club, both as a playing member and an official.
