INTERESTING LECTURE. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a splendid attendance at the weekly home nursing class yesterday afternoon, when Mrs Sharp spoke on the care of sick patients. A practical demonstration was given, with Joan Willett as the “sick patient.” The lectures are proving very popular. Christmas Gifts for Soldiers. The ladies’ committee which has matters in hand in connection with the local soldiers’ Christmas gifts, has been busy preparing parcels, and would appreciate being supplied with the names and addresses of all Featherston soldiers who are serving overseas. The dinner donated by Mr N. C. C. Shepherd was won by Mr H. Scrimshaw, and the cake donated by Mrs Nevile was won by Mr C. Jury. Personal, A soldier in Egypt has written to Mr and Mrs C. J. Nix, stating that four men who had recently escaped from Crete brought the news that their son “Bunty” Nix, is a prisoner of war in Crete. The camp he is in is close to the beach, where they have plenty of swimming. Food is reported to be very scarce.
