CARTERTON CLUB MEETING AT CLAREVILLE TODAY. COUNTY CUP WON BY AURORA’S STAR. (“Times-Age” Special.) A large gathering of racing patrons from all parts of the Wairarapa, swelled by many visitors from outside centres. should make the Carterton Racing Club's meeting, which is being held at. the Clareville race course today, mi outstanding success. The meeting is under the able control of a hard working team led by the secretary, Mr H. Mortenson. The racing track is in first class order, although overnight rain made the going somewhat on the soft side. The weather is fine but dull. Results up to the time of going to press were as follow: — MAIDEN PLATE, of £lOO. Six furlongs. 8 Mr A. L. Monteith’s Lord Defoe, 8.7 (S. Anderson) 1 7 Mr J. O'Brien’s Croupisino, 8.7 (P. Burgess) 2 1 Mr J. J. Maher's Te Mania, 8.7 (R. Bricknell) .... 3 Also started: 10, Yurilla; 3, Olein; 9, Eastern Sport; 14, Trekalong; 6, Madame Rachel; 12. Colonel Blood; 5, Midola; 2, Molly Malone; 11, Arctic Light; 4, Black Sovereign; 13, Fox Tower; 15, Fasolt. Won by half a length; two lengths. Molly Malone was fourth. Time, 1.19 2-5. Croupisino was the pace-maker at the start and accompanied by Lord Defoe, headed the field for some distance. The field was bunched, till the straight was reached. Lord Defoe then challenged Croupisino and won in a thrilling finish. Fox Tower and Molly Malone were in the running for a time. GLADSTONE HACK HANDICAP,, of £lOO. Seven furlongs. 1 Mr S. F. Sports Flash and The Whipper led the field at the start, Arabic and Gunyah being well up. Entering the straight Red Dash came away fast to win easily. .Sports Flash went well in the early part of the race.

Also started: 4 First Role; 5 Swing. Won by three lengths: H lengths. Time, 1.54 3-5. First Role for fourth. From the start Swing took the lead from To Ore, Raana and Colfort. A few furlongs further Te Ore went to the front and at the half mile Swing broke down. Raana then moved up nicely to join Te Ore, followed by First Role and rounding the turn for home Raana headed off Te Orc and won comfortably.
