GOLF LADIES’. COMPETITIONS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The following are the results of the games played by lady members at the Gum Grove links yesterday: — Stableford- competition: Miss Nix 22, Mrs Donald 20, ■ Mesdames Batchelor, Pope and Feast 19. Eclectic Handicap: Mrs Williams 40, Mrs Pope and Miss Nix 41 each, Mesdames Connell and Donald 43 each. In the final of the junior championship Mrs Feast defeated Mrs. Batchelor. Home Guard Parade. The weekly parade of C Company, Featherston unit, Home Guard, was held on Tuesday evening. Physical i drill, under the direction of Sergt. J. Buck, took up the first half hour of '. the parade. The remainder of the time was spent in range practice and discipline under Platoon Commander Carter, platoon deployment under Platoon Commander Johnson, and anti-aircraft fire under Sergt. D. Howell. The Company will parade at 9.45 a.m. on Sunday next for a field day. A church service will be held previous to the company leaving for Tauherenikau for a full day’s programme of intensive training. The Company paraded last Sunday under the command of Mr A. White, in the absence of Commander Hayes, who is in camp at Palmerston North. The time was employed in platoon and company deployment, judging distance and practice in hand grenade throwing. A Molotov cocktail demostration was given by Platoon Commander Carter. While returning home the company practiced anti-air-craft drill. Parliamentary Roll. The main Parliamentary Electoral Roll for the Wairarapa will close on Monday next. Personal. Mrs F. Garrett, eldest daughter of Mr W. Mellish, of Featherston, who recently underwent an operation at the Auckland hospital, has returned to her home and is progressing favourably towards recovery.
