-♦ WIDER POWERS TO BE TAKEN IN BRITAIN. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, August 31. Because of the seriousness of the manpower position the Minister of Labour, Mr Bevin, is immediately introducing regulations developing the conscription of women labour, says the “Sunday Dispatch.” Women unreasonably refusing war work will be liable to a fine or imprisonment. Mr Bevin is also considering the compulsory transfer of women from one district to another, the paper says.
