BOY SCOUT GROUP ANNUAL MEETING OF COMMITTEE (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual meeting of the Feathers ton Boy Scout group committee was held in the Odd Fellows’ Hall on Thursday, Mr H. C. Hunter presiding. The election of officers resulted as follow: —Chairman, Mr H. C. Hunter (re-elected); vice-chairman, Mr J. W. Fellingham; committee, Messrs J. A. Halpin, H. Clark, W. A. Hodder, H. Nielsen, N. C. C. Shepherd, A. T. Cook, Mesdames J. A. Halpin, E. C. Saunders, A. Houston, A. W. Edwards, F. White, Miss G. McTaggart; delegates to District Committee, Messrs N. C. C. Shepherd and A. T. Cook. The group balance sheet, showing a credit balance of £l2 2s 4d, was approved. of. A motion proposed by Mi’ Hunter, and seconded by Mrs Halpin, that the resignation of Mr Harkness be accepted with regret and that he be thanked for his services to the movement was carried unanimously. Owing to being called away to the South Island, Miss McTaggart asked to be relieved of the position of secretary. A new secretary has not yet been appointed. „ GIRL GUIDES ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Featherston Girl Guides Association was held in the Red Cross Society's rooms yesterday afternoon. Miss Card was in the chair. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Elliot, Cassidy, and Lawson. A credit balance of £2 10s was reported. Captain M. Bloxam sent an apology for absence. Her report was read by the secretary, Mrs Fellingham. The election of officers resulted as follows: Chairwoman, Miss Card; vicechairwoman, Mrs H. Clark; secretary, Mrs Fellingham; committee, the retiring members were re-elected; delegates, Mrs McKenna and Mrs Elliot; proxy, Miss Chisholm. Christmas Gifts-for Soldiers. A meeting to arrange for the Christmas gift parcels for the local soldiers overseas was held in the Red Cross Society’s rooms yesterday afternoon, Miss Card presiding. It was decided to send similar parcels to those forwarded last year, to the soldiers from Featherston and Western Lake. Canvassers for various streets were arranged. An appeal was made for old flour bags, etc., suitable for wrapping up parcels. Mesdames Carlyon. Shepherd. Bergh and Miss Card were appointed a buying committee. The buyers for provincial patriotic parcels are Mrs Sharp and Miss Card. Personal Items. Mr W. McNamara, of the local exchange staff, has received notice to appeal’ for medical examination for service in the Navy. Mrs H. McKay, Levin, is visiting her father, Mr J. W. Card. Mrs Evans, Lower Hutt, is spending a holiday with her mother, Mrs McKenna. Mr David Shepherd has returned from a visit to Napier. Mrs Boston is a visitor to Wellington.
