WRESTLING

ATKINS BEATS MEEHAN. CONTEST AT AUCKLAND. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND; August 25. A return wrestling contest, between Fred Atkins, Australia, and Pat Meehan. United States, resulted in a win for Atkins. Meehan obtained the first fall in the third round by means of a combination hold consisting of a double arm scissors with both legs trapped under his own arms. Atkins evened the falls in the fifth round with a lift and slam following a succession of jolts. The bout terminated abruptly in the sixth round when a penalty fall was awarded to the Australian after Meehan had jolted him to the floor and then kicked him in the ribs.
