COURSING

’WAIRARAPA CLUB MEETING. COOPER CUP & WILLIAMS TROPHY. On Saturday the Wairarapa Coursing Club will hold a meeting at the Akura Plumpton, when contests for Open and Maiden stakes for the Steve Cooper Cup and W. Williams trophy will be decided. Each event will be for 16 dogs of either sex and good fields will no doubt compete for these trophies. The cup, which is for open dogs, is a handsome silver trophy presented by Mr Steve Cooper, to be won 3 times. So far the only dog to have won the cup twice is Mr J. Taylors The Clipper (N.S.), which has scored in the last two years. No doubt this dog will make another strong bid for his nominator this season. Mr W. Williams has donated a set of afternoon tea spoons to be won outright, for maiden class' dogs. Owners will have their dogs in good form to try to win this trophy. Owners are reminded that nominations close definitely at 6 p.m. tomorrow. The draw will take place at 8 p.m. in the secretary’s rooms the same night. The executive will meet prior to the draw to complete arrangements for Saturday. Owners and supporters are also reminded of the meeting to be held in the A. and P. Rooms on Friday.
