TIRAUMEA
PATRIOTIC EFFORT BACHELORS’ & SPINSTERS’ DANCE. ('"Times-Age” Special.) An enjoyable time was spent at the bachelors’ and spinsters’ dance held recently in the local hall in aid of the patriotic funds. There was a good attendance despite the unfavourable weather. The music was supplied by Mrs Houlbrooke, Messrs A. Rowden, J. Finnic and J. Tuckett. Messrs B. Wright and L. Wallis were M.C’s. Two raffles were also drawn. A hand-knitted pullover was won by J. Hay, and a dog ornament by Mrs Harman. The Lucky Spot waltz was won by Mr J. Hay and Miss Leia Hart, and the Monte Carlo dance by Mr Harman Snr. and Mrs McManaway. A savoury supper was provided. The patriotic committee were handed £8 19s 6d as the result of the effort. Personal Items. Private J. Hansen spent the weekend with his parents. Private Hansen is training in Waiouru Camp. Mr and Mrs Raleigh are visiting Wellington. Mrs Hislop has left on a holiday which is to be spent in Wellington and Waverley. Mrs Geof. Houlbrooke and family are spending a holiday 'in Hawke’s Bay.
