SOUTH FEATHERSTON

ENJOYABLE GATHERING HELD BY WAR SERVICE COMMITTEE. (“Times-Age” Special.) Owing to the very bad weather conditions there was only a moderate attendance at the War. Service committee’s euchre party and dance held at South Featherston on Thursday night. Nevertheless a very enjoyable time was spent. The following are the prize-winners at euchre: —Ladies: Mrs Baker, 1; Mrs Worsley, 2. Men: Mr Worsley, 1; Mrs Wilton,” 2. The Monte Carlo waltz was won by Private J.. Mellish and Miss Dick. The music was provided by Udy’s Orchestra. Miss Fraser played an extra. Mr H. Graham carried out the duties of M.C. The aggregate prizes were won by the following:—Ladies: Mrs Wakely, 1; Mrs Worsley, 2. Men: Mr McGuinness, 1; Mr Robertson, 2. The raffle for a duchess set given by an anonymous- donor, was won by Mr Frank Talbot. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs F. Lewis, who have been the guests of Mrs D. W. Burt, South Featherston, have returned to Timaru. Privates E. Tyer, H. G. Bain and M. Hyland, who have been in Fiji for the past nine months, are at present home on leave. Mrs Wakely has returned home after having spent a holiday in Auckland. Mrs Simpson, of Auckland, is visiting her mother, Mrs Wakely, of South Featherston.
