PATRIOTIC DANCE IN HONOUR OF SOLDIERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The patriotic dance in honour of Private Graham Speedy and Drivers Len Berry and Jack McLaren was well attended and a most enjoyable time was spent. Music was supplied by Wadley’s Dance Band, and the duties of M.C. were carried out by Mr W. T. Rautu. Mr C. P. Hunter, chairman of t the Akitio County Council, presented the three guests with money belts —these and their contents being equal in value to the former “presentation” watches. These were gifts from the residents of the Akitio County. The speaker then presented each soldier with cigarettes on behalf of Mrs E. Darlington, of Rakaunui. Thanks were suitably expressed by Drivers L. Berry and J. McLaren. Dancing was interspersed with vocal items by Lance-Corporal J. Hutcheson, of Pahiatua. ■ Among members of H.M. Forces present were: Privates S. Meech, T. I. Pickett, A. Burnet.t, J. Skipper, H. R. Yewen (Pahiatua), Corporal A. Kilgour. also Telegraphist N. Yewen, of the Royal Navy. A home-made supper was served by members of the Women’s Patriotic Society and helpers. [St. John’s Ladies’ Guild. At the monthly meeting of St. John’s Ladies’ Guild there was a small attendance. A large amount of sewing is being done at home by members in readiness for the annual bazaar, which will be held in October. The hostesses for the meeting were Mesdames Jensen and Smith.
