SCHOOL GATHERING CHILDREN ENTERTAIN PARENTS. (“Times-Age” Special.) A happy afternoon was spent at the Mauriceville West School yesterday, when about 20 parents and friends were entertained by the children.
The proceedings opened with the singing of the National Anthem and the children entered into the spirit of the occasion with unbounded enthusiasm. The programme combined education and pleasure and was much enjoyed by those present and indicated the honest endeavour of the teacher, Mr King, and Mrs King. A junior Red Cross stall produced the satisfactory sum of 18s. For some time the children have enjoyed their lunch around a table. A feature of these lunches was hot soup made at the school of vegetables, etc., brought by the children, also brown bread and honey. This has proved of great benefit during the cold winter months. A delightful afternoon tea served by the children brought a happy gathering to a close.
