ALFREDTON
SOLDIERS HONOURED GIFTS FROM SETTLERS. ("Times-Age” Special.) On Saturday evening there was a large attendance of settlers from the Alfredton and surrounding districts in the Alfredton Hall when Corporal A. Kilgour and Private H. Duckett were the guests of honour. Dancing was indulged in to music supplied by Mrs G. Houlbrookc and Mr,.. A. Rowden. Extras were played by Mrs T. Smith and Mr B. Galbraith. The duties of M.C. were capablv carried out by Mr H. Burch.
During an interval, Mr R. Kebboll on behalf of the residents, wished both Corporal A. Kilgour and Private H. Duckett, the best of luck and a safe return to New Zealand.
Mrs R. Kebbell presented Corporal A. Kilgour with a signet ring and Private H. Duckett with a wristlet watch. Both soldiers suitably returned thanks. The guests appreciated very much a parcel of comforts sent by Mrs Groves.
Supper was provided- by the ladies. A very pleasant time was brought to a close with the singing of Auld Lang Syne and the National Anthem. Personal Items. Miss J. Algie apd Miss Z. Smith are spending al few days in Palmerston North. Miss W. Smith spent the weekend with her parents, Mr and Mrs T. Smith.
' Mrs A. Lessels is visiting relatives in Carterton.
