PAHIATUA STOCK SALE
SHEEP IN DEMAND. A large entry of dairy cattle and pigs and medium entries of sheep and run cattle were offered to a large attendance of buyers at the Pahiatua sale on Tuesday. Sheep were again in demand, and sold well at late rates, while run cattle sold at prices on a par with other centres. Dairy stock showing quality sold well at late rates, poorer sorts, however being neglected, and sales in this class being slow. Pigs were again in demand, but realisations in this section were down about 2s on last week's sale.
Prices are: Wether hoggets. 21s, small, 14s 6d and 13s 9d, fat wethers. 27s lOd, 4 and 6-tooth and 4-year ewes, 27s 4d, 26s 7d. Run cattle: 3-year bullocks, £8 ss, 2-year steers. £6 9s. fat cows, £7 10s. Dairy cattle: Springing cows. £ll, £9; others, £8 15s to £7 10s, springing heifers (good), £lO, £9, poorer sorts, £8 to £6 10s. Pigs: Wenners 20s to 17s slips, 23s to 18s.
