ALFREDTON
FAREWELL GATHERING REV AND MRS L. IVES. ("Times-Age” Special.) A large congregation attended the service at St Aiden’s Church, Alfredton, on Sunday, when occasion was taken to bid farewell to the Rev L. Ives, who is leaving Eketahuna this week to take up duties at Okato. Mr Ives expressed regret at leaving a parish where he has made many friends in the past five and a half years. He thanked the church wardens for their loyalty and support, and the congregation for their help. Mr Harold Kebbell, in a brief speech, referred to the sterling service which Mr Ives had given in the parish, and regretted his departure. In t wishing Mr and Mrs Ives and family a pleasant and happy stay in Okato, Mrs Cecil Kebbell handed Mr Ives a rug and cheque on behalf of the parishioners. Mr Ives said he was very pleased to see Mrs Kebbell restored to health again after her long illness, and thanked her and the congregation for their gifts and good wishes.
