EKETAHUNA
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MONTHLY MEETING OF MEMBERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mrs D. Fraser presided over a good attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the Eketahuna Woi.y.en's Institute. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Christie and W. Ure and Miss R. Mitchell. Mrs Fraser reported on the recent visit of Miss Cocks-Johnson, which had proved very successful. A vote of appreciation was accorded Mrs P. Fauvel for action in supplying firewood for the monthly meetings. A most interesting address on gardening was given by Mr T. Hooper. This proved very popular and at the end of his talk Mr Hooper gave many helpful hints during the course of answering questions. On the motion of Mrs F. Schermann. Mr Hooper was accorded a vote of thanks.
The monthly competitions resulted as follows: Best bloom (judged by Mr Hooper): Mrs Fraser 1, Mrs Baucke 2. Mrs Fraser 3. Shortbread (for soldiers' parcels): Mrs Albrechtsen 1. Mrs Baucke 2, Mrs Fraser 3. The hostesses were Mesdames Robinson, McAlister and Olivant.
