WEEDING
TANKERSLEY—JOHNSON. (“Times-Age” Special.) A. quiet wedding took place recently at St. Mark's Church, Carterton, when Amy Marie, younger daughter of Mrs and the late Mr Martin Johnson, was married, to Athol Roy. elder son of Mr and Mrs R. Tankersley. Carterton. The Rev. W. F. Stent officiated and Mrs Bath presided at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her brother, Mr L. M. Johnson, wore a frock of off white embossed cloque, patterned in silver thread, and cut on very simple lines, with a draped bodice, straight fitting skirt and the long sleeves forming a point over the hands. Her tulle veil, which had been lent by her sister, was held in place with a top-knot of white and silver flowers. Her bouquet of cream azaleas and freesias completed a pleasing toilette.
The bridesmaids, Miss Patricia Liardet. Wellington, and Miss Amy McCann, Wellington (cousin of the bride)' wore frock of white ripple georgette, cut in Grecian style, with very full skirts, draped sleeves, and finished with three bands of silver braid at the waist. Their white shoulder veils were finished with cherry flowers and they carried bouquets of cherry carnations and sweet peas. . The bouquets were the gift of the bridegroom's mother. White ripple georgette with silver bows down the bodice and a silver sash was worn by the flower girl, Dorothy Johnson (neice of the bride). a silver bow in her hair and her posy was of white spring bulbs. Master Peter Anderson, Upper Hutt (nephew of the bride), wearing cream satin shorts, and white georgette blouse with a silver bow at the neck, was page boy. As she left the Church, the bride was presented with silver horse shoes by Miss Greta Smith, of Wellington, and her nephew, Master Allan Anderson, of Upper Hutt. The duties of best man were carried out by the bride’s brother. Mr Les Johnson, and Mr Geoff Blatchford, cousin of the bridegroom, was groomsman. At the reception in the Parish Hall, Mrs Johnson, wearing a navy costume, with a shoulder spray of heath and pansies, navy hat and navy accessories, received the guests. She was assisted by Mrs Tankersley, who was attired in a navy suit with shoulder spray of white freesias, navy hat and white accessories.
Later, Mr and Mrs Athol Tankersley left by car for the north, the bride travelling in a teal blue frock and hat, black coat with fur stole and black accessories.
