FIRE BRIGADE ANNUAL MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual meeting of the Martinborough Volunteer Fire Brigade, was held on Tuesday night, there being a full attendance. Superintendent W. O. Hewetson presided. In reviewing the work of the year, the chairman said that the brigade had answered 6 alarms. The attendance during the year had been good. The balance sheet showed a credit balance of £2 9s 6d. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Superintendent, W. O. Hewetson (re-elected); deputy superintendent, F. P. Duffy; foreman, R. Feist; secretary and treasurer, Mr T. Boyd. Service bars -were presented to Fireman Loveridge (27 years’ service), Fireman Feist (7 years), Fireman Duffy (4 years), Secretary Boyd (2 years). WEDDING GREEN—HILL. A very pretty wedding took place at the Presbyterian Church on Saturday, when Mr Gordon Green, was married to Miss Kathleen Auriol Hill, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Hill, of Bush Gully, Hinakura. The Rev. C. W. Madell performed the ceremony and Miss J. Grant presided at the organ. Misses Verna Hill and Betty Green were bridesmaids, and Mr Wilton was best man. A reception was held after the ceremony. Entertainment of Soldiers. At a public meeting held on Monday evening to appoint a committee etc., to conduct and arrange entertainments for soldiers, Mr W. J. Knell presided. The following were appointed; —Chairman, Mr W. J. Knell; vicechairman, Mr D. C. Pryor; secretary and treasurer, Mr O. Grant; committee, Mesdames Holmes, Kershaw, Caseley, Knell, Thomas, Chapman, Messrs Hardinge, Baker, R. Feist, R. George, J. Jolly and C. Michell.

Settler Farewelled. On Monday evening the settlers of Tablelands met at the residence of Mr J. Roach to farewell Mr W. Coleman, who is leaving the district to reside in Auckland. During the evening Mr F. R. Ward, on behalf of those present presented Mr Coleman with a set of brushes. The recipient suitably replied.
