RANDOLPH BEDFORD DEAD

The death has occurred of Mr Randolph Bedford, one of the most colourful figures in Australian public life, at the age of 73. Originally a newspaper reporter, he followed mining in New Guinea, Alaska and Italy and promoted Australian mining companies. He wrote stories, articles and plays. Finally he settled in Queensland, where he became a Parliamentarian, and he played a prominent partin the abolition of the Queensland Legislative Council in 1922.
