MR FRASER TOURS BOMBED LONDON
INSPECTION OF FIRE SERVICES. TRIBUTE TO COALITION GOVERNMENT. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received Tnis Day, 11.40 a.m.) LONDON, July 8. “After meeting Londoners, only the striking evidence oi the blitz makes me believe that a war is raging,” said the New Zealand Prime Minister (Mr Fraser) at the end of a tour of bombed areas m London. Accompanied by Mr W. J. Jordan (New Zealand High Commissioner), Mr Herbert Morrison (Home Secretary) and Admiral Evans, Mr Fraser visited St. Paul’s, where he inspected -the auxiliary fire services company of Stepney, Hackney and Bermondsey. Addressing the Empire Parliamentary Association, Mr Fraser paid a tribute to the Coalition Government and said New Zealanders were convinced that Mr Churchill had chosen the best men from all parties to form a team in which there was complete confidence. Lcrd Beaverbrook told the Australian Associated Press: “I am most impressed with Mr Fraser. He is quiet and does not criticise unnecessarily, but is not afraid to make discerning and forceful criticism. He is a strong man.”
