GOLF LADIES' & MEN’S COMPETITIONS. (•‘Times-Age” Special.) The best card for the ladies' golf competition played during the weekend was again handed in by Miss E. Bannister with a net score of 71, and by E. Nitz, 65, who returned the best card for the men. Play for the trophies will be continued next weekend. SEWING GUILD SUCCESSFUL DANCE HELD. At a meeting of the ladies of the district to further the interests of the local sewing circle, Mrs Read was elected president and Mrs M. D. McGregor was appointed secretary and treasurer. Mrs P. G. Ashworth and Mrs N. F. Foreman were authorised to purchase the required material to be made up into garments for the British refugees. Realising that funds would be necessary to carry on the work and feeling that they would like to take part in the effort, the young ladies organised a dance which was held in the hall on Saturday evening and were able to hand over to the ladies’ committee a handsome sum. Though the dance was purely a local one it was most successful and enjoyable, the supper and the general arrangements being a feature of the evening. Several competitions were held. The music was supplied by Mr B. Morris, extras being played by Mrs Bannister and Mr McKinstry while Mr F. C. Cotter made an efficient M.C.
