The Prime Minister, Mr Winston Churchill, is at present mailing no statement on the Middle East military changes. INTENDANT GENERAL. POST FOR SIR R. H. HAINING. (Received This Day, 10.35 a.m.) LONDON, July 2. The War Office announces that General Sir Robert H. Haining has been appointed Intendant General in the Middle East, with effect from May 19. General Haining was appointed ViceChief of the Imperial General Staff in May, 1940, and it is understood here that the new appointment is felt to be necessary of a very senior officer to deal with many complicated administrative problems raised by the Middle East campaigns.
